A central-courtyard contemporary residence in Sriperumbudur, Kanchipuram, organised around a 14-ft jackfruit tree and an open kitchen-dining spine.
About the project
The Courtyard House — the story.
The brief: a calm, naturally-lit home on a tight 40–60 ft plot. Our architects wrapped the living areas around a central open-to-sky courtyard, doubling daylight penetration and reducing dependence on artificial cooling. The courtyard’s preserved jackfruit tree drove the structural grid — a small detail that became the home’s emotional centre.
